Everything Christian Walk does, and how to use it.

1 · Getting started

There’s no sign‑up, no account and no login. Install the app and it opens straight to your home screen — everything works immediately, offline.

Installing

Christian Walk is an Android app. Download the latest .apk from the GitHub releases page and open it to install, or install the .aab through Google Play once published.

Language

The app speaks English and Français. On first launch it follows your device language (anything other than French falls back to English), and you can change it any time in Settings → Language.

Finding your way around

The bottom bar has four tabs, each its own journal with its own colour. They stay loaded, so switching is instant:

2 · Reading the Bible

Two full public‑domain translations ship inside the app, so you can read completely offline.

• World English Bible (English) — code WEB
• Louis Segond 1910 (French) — code LSG1910

Opening a passage & continuing

1. On the Bible Reading tab, tap Choose a passage to read and pick a book, then a chapter.
2. Come back later and the home screen shows a Continue from card with your last chapter — tap it to reopen exactly where you stopped.
3. Move through the text with the Previous / Next chapter buttons.

Switching translation

Either translation can be read whatever your app language is. Use the version chooser on the home screen, or the WEB/LSG1910 badge in the reader’s top bar — the chapter reloads instantly in the new translation.

Selecting verses & what you can do

Tap a verse number to select it; tap more to extend the range (tap again to deselect). A selection bar appears reading Verses 3–5, offering:

3 · The prayer journal

Write or speak your prayers, gather them under topics, chain them into threads over time, and mark when the Lord answers.

Writing a prayer

1. On the Prayers tab (the Prayers segment), tap the + button.
2. Choose Written Prayer to type, or Voice Recording to speak it.
3. Add an optional title and tags, optionally attach one or more prayer topics, and choose whether to make it private.
4. Save. That’s it — your prayer is on your device.

Recording by voice

The record sheet shows a live timer and waveform with Record / Stop, and stops automatically at 10 minutes. You’ll get a playback preview and can re‑record before saving. During playback anywhere in the app, a speed button cycles 1× → 1.5× → 2×.

Threads — “Continue Prayer”

Prayers can be chained chronologically so a long‑running request reads as one story:

• From a prayer you’re reading, tap Continue Prayer to start a new linked entry.
• Or use Link to an existing prayer — either while writing a new one, or from an already‑saved prayer — to join them.
• See Linked Prayers opens a drawer with the whole thread in order.

Marking a prayer answered

Open a prayer and tick Answered; a note field appears — How was this prayer answered? — to record what God did. Back in the list, filter by All, Answered or Unanswered, and search any prayer by title, content or tags.

4 · The dreams journal

Dreams fade fast — capture them by text or voice before they slip away. It mirrors the prayer journal, with two differences.

• Create with Written Dream or Voice Recording; add title, tags and privacy just like prayers.
• Chain dreams with Continue Dream, Link to an existing dream and See Linked Dreams — transitive, same as prayers.
• Dreams can be edited and deleted (a written, unlocked dream) — a pencil icon opens the editor; delete asks to confirm.
• There are no “topics” for dreams — that’s a prayer feature.

5 · Structured Bible study

Study a passage with a proven method, step by step, with the verse text right there as you work. Two methods are built in.

Starting a study

1. On the Bible Study tab, tap New Bible Study.
2. Pick a method — Chapter Summary Method or Devotional Method.
3. Choose the passage under Choose a Bible section: a chapter range, specific verses, or an entire book.
4. Tap Next to open the method’s form.

Chapter Summary Method — the “ten C’s”

Ten prompts guide you through the chapter:

Both the Choice Verse and every Cross‑Reference are tappable citations — one tap opens the Bible Reader at that passage.

Devotional Method — “SPACEPETS”

Five steps of prayerful, personal study:

• Step 1 — Prayer for Insight: confirm you’ve asked God to guide you (required to continue).
• Step 2 — Meditation: the six P’s — Picture it, Pronounce it, Paraphrase it, Personalize it, Pray it, Probe it.
• Step 3 — Probing Analysis (SPACEPETS): nine questions — Sin to confess, Promise to claim, Attitude to change, Command to obey, Example to follow, Prayer to pray, Error to avoid, Truth to believe, Something to thank God for.
• Step 4 — Application: personal, practical, possible and measurable.
• Step 5 — Memorization Focus: pick a verse; its text is shown for you to learn.

From a study’s reader you can edit, delete, link it to another study, and read the thread — the same linking as prayers and dreams.

6 · Prayer topics

Topics gather related prayers under one heading — “Healing for Mum,” “Guidance for the move” — so a request and everything you’ve prayed about it stay together.

• On the Prayers tab, switch to the Topics segment and tap + → New topic (title, optional description, tags).
• Link prayers to a topic from four places: a topic’s Link an existing prayer; the topic row on a new prayer; Attach prayer topics on a saved prayer; or Pray now on a topic, which opens a fresh prayer already attached.
• Mark as done / Reopen a topic as prayers are answered; search topics by title or tag.
• Deleting a topic keeps its prayers — only the grouping is removed.

7 · Prayer groups

Pray together with your family, small group or church. Groups live in the Groups segment of the Prayers tab, and everything shared in them is end‑to‑end encrypted.

Creating a group

1. Prayers tab → Groups segment → + → New group.
2. Give the group a name and set Your name in this group (prefilled from Settings).
3. Save. A private encryption key is generated for the group, and you land on the invite screen.

Inviting people

The invite screen shows a QR code and the same invite as copyable text. Have someone scan the code in person, or send the text through a channel you trust.

Joining a group

1. Groups segment → + → Join a group.
2. Scan invite to open the camera and scan a QR, or Paste invite code to paste the text.
3. Enter your display name and tap Join.

Members & leaving

A group’s overflow menu has Members, Rename me (change your display name), and Leave group. There’s no “remove a member”: because everyone holds the key, the way to truly exclude someone is to start a new group with a new invite.

8 · Group prayers & topics

Inside a group are two tabs — Topics and Prayers. The + button adds to whichever you’re viewing.

Getting a prayer into the group

• New group prayer — write one straight into the group, with title, tags, one or more saved scripture references, and links to the group’s topics.
• Share to group… — from one of your own journal prayers, share a copy into a group. Sharing a private or voice prayer warns you first (it shares a decrypted copy, then re‑encrypts it under the group’s key).

Praying together

• Tap I prayed on a topic — everyone sees who has prayed.
• Mark your own shared prayer Answered with an optional note; others see a read‑only badge and note.
• Link a prayer to a topic (many‑to‑many), add tags, and play voice prayers — group audio is encrypted under the group’s key, so it plays without unlocking your personal vault.
• Retract removes your own item for everyone; Hide tucks away someone else’s item just on your device (never synced).

The Topics tab has its own search; the group list itself is searchable by name.

9 · Keeping a group in sync

There are two independent ways to keep a group up to date. A group can use either, both, or neither — it’s entirely your choice, per group.

Automatic — sync through a relay

New groups sync automatically through a secure relay, with nothing to set up. To review or change it, open the group’s overflow menu → Relay settings:

• Relay URL — where updates are exchanged; prefilled with the default relay. Tap Use default relay to reset it, or type your own self‑hosted relay’s address.
• Auto‑sync via relay — the on/off switch.
• Sync now runs one sync immediately; a Last synced line shows when it last worked.

Once auto‑sync is on, a group syncs when you:

• open the app, or open the group and pull to refresh;
• tap Sync now;
• stop editing (about 30 seconds after your last change);
• and in the background, roughly every 6 hours.

Manual — share an update file

Prefer to keep the internet out of it? Use the overflow menu:

• Share updates bundles the group’s changes into an encrypted .cwg file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet — send it by message, email, anything.
• A recipient taps the file (or uses Import update) and it’s merged in. Opening a .cwg file from any app works too.
• An Unsent changes badge reminds you when a group has updates you haven’t shared as a file yet.

10 · The private vault

Any prayer, dream or study can be marked private. Its sensitive fields are encrypted with AES‑GCM and only decrypt after you unlock the vault.

Setting it up (first time)

The first time you make something private, you’ll set up the vault:

1. Create an app PIN (at least 4 digits), entered twice.
2. Choose a security question and answer — this is your only way back in if you forget the PIN.
3. Confirm you understand the recovery answer is the only fallback.

Afterwards, if your device supports it, you can unlock day‑to‑day with your fingerprint / face / device credential as well as the PIN.

Unlocking, locking & recovery

• The unlock sheet offers biometrics automatically, with the PIN field always available.
• Forgot the PIN? Forgot PIN? → answer your security question → set a new PIN.
• The vault auto‑locks a couple of seconds after you leave the app, and you can lock it any time from Settings → Lock now.
• While locked, private entries show as locked cards; unlock to open them.

12 · Permissions & privacy

The app asks for as little as possible, and only when a feature needs it. You can deny any of these and keep using everything else.

There is no location, no contacts, and no notifications permission. For the fuller privacy picture, see the privacy section on the home page.
